معرفی
Aimilia Vlami is an Assistant Professor in Tourism Economics and Development at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). She teaches Tourism Development and Management at the Hellenic Open University. Her research focuses on tourism economics, regional development, and hospitality sector dynamics. She has served as a consultant to the Greek Ministry of Tourism and Hellenic Chamber of Hotels for over a decade. Vlami has participated in numerous Greek and EU-funded research projects analyzing tourism policy, financing mechanisms, and crisis resilience in the hospitality sector.
Her work bridges historical analysis (e.g., 19th century family businesses) with contemporary issues like boutique hotel branding and permacrisis management. She examines government intervention in tourism infrastructure, spatial development patterns, and entrepreneurial performance in SMEs. Recent publications explore Santorini heritage hotels, post-crisis hotel industry restructuring, and tourism policy effectiveness in mountainous regions.
Professional engagements include advising on tourism financing frameworks for Ionian Islands and evaluating hotel classification systems. Her research emphasizes economic resilience strategies for tourism-dependent regions and the role of innovation in small hospitality enterprises.
