Aileen Luo is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Psychological Sciences, Macquarie University, where she works within the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre. She also serves as a Professional Casual staff member in the same school. In addition to her research role, she works as a clinical psychologist with young people in both inpatient and community settings across private and public sectors.
Her primary research interests include:
- Moral disengagement
- Cyber bullying
- Peer aggression
- Mental health outcomes in young people
- Mechanisms of change in psychological interventions for anxiety disorders
- Efficacy of psychological treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder
- Psychological trauma associated with critical incidents
Aileen's research output demonstrates a strong focus on moral disengagement and its relationship with cyberbullying and other transgressive behaviors in youth. Her work frequently employs systematic reviews and meta-analyses to examine psychological interventions, with particular emphasis on understanding behavioral mechanisms and developing evidence-based approaches for youth mental health issues. The fingerprint analysis of her work shows significant engagement in Cyberbullying (100%), Moral Disengagement (100%), and Meta-Analysis (51%).
Aileen serves as a senior academic tutor for PSYU3339: Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology and PSYH4432: Advanced Issues in Developmental Psychology. Previously, she tutored for PSYU1101: Introduction to Psychology I and PSYU2235: Developmental Psychology, and has also convened PSYU3339 and PSYU3337: Psychopathology.
