Aijaz Ahmed

Aijaz Ahmed, MD is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He serves as the Medical Director of the Adult Liver Transplant Program and maintains active clinical, educational, and research roles.

Dr. Ahmed’s research focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), disparities in chronic liver disease management, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) screening, and outcomes research across liver conditions. He leads a productive research team and collaborates with basic scientists on translational projects.

His clinical work includes establishing hepatology outreach clinics in underserved areas of California and Nevada. He has presented at major conferences such as the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and the European Association for the Study of the Liver, including insights on the gastrointestinal impact of COVID-19.
