Aigul Beymisheva

Aigul Beymisheva is a Professor at Narxoz University since 2023 and was a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity (MPI-MMG) in 2024.

Her research focuses on social standards of living, urban processes, and human resource dynamics in small cities, with recent emphasis on educational inequality between urban and rural communities. She investigates comparative survival strategies in Central Asian households and systemic barriers in regional education systems.

During her doctoral studies, she led a Volkswagen Foundation-funded international project 'Strategies of Private Household Survival in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: A Comparative Analysis of Urban and Rural Areas,' resulting in the publication 'When Salary is Not Enough.' Her current work examines root causes of educational disparities in cities and villages, aiming to develop targeted policy recommendations.
