Prof. Dr. habil. med. Aigars Pētersons serves as Rector of Riga Stradiņš University since 2018 and holds the position of Professor in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine. He also chairs the Latvian Association of Universities and serves as an Expert Consultant at the Children's Clinical University Hospital's Paediatric Surgery Clinic. His academic career spans over two decades at Riga Stradiņš University, where he has held various leadership positions including Dean of the Department of Doctoral Studies and Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery.
Dr. Pētersons specializes in pediatric surgical procedures with particular expertise in gastrointestinal tract conditions, skin and soft tissue pathologies, and congenital malformations.
