Aidin Hajikhameneh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at San Jose State University's College of Social Sciences and co-director of the Spartan Experimental Economics Lab (SEEL). His research integrates experimental economics, behavioral economics, and economic history to explore how cultural norms, religious beliefs, and institutional frameworks influence economic decision-making.
His work examines themes such as:
- Cultural impacts on cooperation (individualism vs. collectivism)
- Role of superstition and uncertainty in economic behavior
- Enforcement mechanisms in exchange systems
- Historical analysis of economic institutions
Recent publications focus on experimental studies of faith-based solidarity, reputation-driven enforcement, and the interplay between cultural orientations and economic outcomes. He also investigates intergenerational belief transmission and inequality acceptance under uncertainty.
Key collaborations include work with Laurence Iannaccone on religious cooperation and with Erik Kimbrough on cultural economic dynamics. His research appears in journals like Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and Games and Economic Behavior.
