Aiden Robert Max Jönsson is a postdoctoral researcher at Stockholm University's Department of Environmental Science (ACES), where he works on the CleanCloud project investigating aerosol-cloud interactions in a transitioning climate. His research focuses on the relationship between aerosols, clouds, and meteorology, particularly in Arctic measurements from the ARTofMELT campaign and upcoming fieldwork in Greece, with special attention to primary biogenic aerosols.
Jönsson's research interests span atmospheric science, climate dynamics, and Earth's energy balance. His work examines fundamental climate system components including cloud feedback mechanisms, interhemispheric albedo symmetry, and aerosol impacts on climate. He employs satellite observations, climate model outputs, and general circulation model simulations to investigate how clouds compensate for clear-sky albedo differences between Earth's hemispheres and how these relationships might change in future climate scenarios.
His publications reveal consistent focus on climate system dynamics, with particular emphasis on Earth's radiation balance and cloud processes. The research demonstrates sophisticated integration of observational data with modeling approaches to address fundamental questions in climate science, particularly regarding how aerosol emissions influence cloud formation and properties in different environmental contexts.
Jönsson has collaborated across disciplinary boundaries, working with social scientists on natural hazard severity assessment and humanitarian aid allocation. His research portfolio shows progression from engineering fundamentals through atmospheric science specialization to current interdisciplinary climate research.
He maintains active engagement with both theoretical climate science and practical field measurements, participating in international research campaigns that gather critical data on atmospheric processes in diverse environments from the Arctic to Greece.
