Professor Aidas Matijošius, currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Physics at Vilnius University, is a leading figure in the Laser Research Center (LRC). With a career spanning decades, he has made significant contributions to the fields of Singular Optics, Nonlinear Optics, and Complex Light Structures. His research focuses on the generation and control of spiraling Bessel beams, terahertz pulse diagnostics, and optical parametric amplification, often bridging fundamental and applied physics.
His work includes pioneering studies on topological charge transformations and broadband optical vortex generation, with applications in laser technology and advanced materials processing. He has supervised multiple doctoral students, including Maksym Ivanov, and led major projects like Laserlab-Europe V (2019–2023) and ConTeX (2008–2010). As an expert in project evaluation for the Latvian Science Council and a peer reviewer for journals such as Optical Engineering, he actively shapes research agendas internationally.
- Key Collaborations: German Physical Society symposiums, Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference (QELS)
- Projects: Laserlab-Europe, ConTeX
- Leadership: Director of LRC (2019–2023), Senate member at Vilnius University (2018–2023)
