His research centers on Islamic artistic expression with specialization in calligraphic traditions, epigraphic analysis, and paleographic methods. He examines Ottoman and Seljuk inscriptions through technical and aesthetic lenses, connecting historical writing practices to broader Islamic artistic principles. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical artistic knowledge, particularly in Arabic script evolution and architectural decoration.
Publications reveal consistent focus on Anatolian Islamic monuments, Ottoman textual transmission, and cross-cultural artistic influences. His 20 articles (including 8 journal articles) demonstrate methodological rigor in analyzing inscriptions from Konya to Jerusalem, with recent works exploring Candarid dynasty epigraphy and Al-Andalus artistic legacy.
Dr. Gedik has advised three graduate students on thesis topics including Ottoman selatin mosque inscriptions and Seljuk wooden minbar epigraphy. He teaches specialized courses in Paleography, Epigraphy, and History of Turkish Islamic Arts across undergraduate and graduate levels while maintaining active participation in international artistic exhibitions as a practitioner.
