Ahmed Elshaer

Dr. Ahmed Elshaer, P.Eng., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada. His research focuses on enhancing the resiliency and sustainability of the built environment through interdisciplinary approaches.

Dr. Elshaer's work spans Wind Engineering (wind-structure interaction, aerodynamics), AI-based optimization, applied element methods, and multihazard risk assessment using High-performance computing. He has contributed to projects addressing climate resilience, including modular housing for severe weather conditions.

Prior to Lakehead, he worked at the WindEEE Research Institute and Alan Davenport Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel. Recent projects include the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race and modular housing development for extreme climates.
