Ahmad Majed is a Teaching Professor at Tulane University's School of Science and Engineering, where he specializes in materials physics and engineering. His academic journey includes a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and a Ph.D. from Tulane University focused on synthesizing 2D transition metal carbo-chalcogenides for electrochemical energy storage applications.
Dr. Majed's research centers on:
- Advanced materials synthesis and characterization
- Electrochemical testing for energy storage
- Development of novel 2D materials like TMCCs and MXenes
- Nanomaterials for battery electrodes and hydrogen evolution
- MXenes and their applications in energy storage
- Development of transition metal carbo-chalcogenides
- Electrode materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries
- Photothermal processing of nanomaterials

Dr. Majed advises undergraduate researchers and serves as senior lab coordinator for the Naguib Lab for Novel Energy Materials. He teaches courses in Mechanics of Materials and Thermodynamics of Materials, and has developed innovative teaching methods for nanomaterial characterization techniques.
