Ahmad Al-Shami

Dr. Ahmad Al-Shami is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), affiliated with the Science & Engineering School. He holds a PhD in Computational Intelligence from Nottingham Trent University (UK), and BSc/MSc degrees from The City University of New York (USA). He also serves as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Warwick (UK).

His research focuses on computational intelligence, machine learning, big data science, and advanced econometrics. Key applications include knowledge management, process modeling, and strategic planning. He has contributed to over 30 scientific papers and secured grants like the NSF DART Project and HCT Interdisciplinary Research Grant.

Dr. Al-Shami is a recipient of prestigious awards including the SAU Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching (2023-24) and Research (2022-23). He teaches courses like Software Engineering, Machine Learning, and Database Systems. Prior roles include Assistant Professor at Higher Colleges of Technology (UAE), Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, and Director of IT at NYIT. His industry experience spans a decade in Wall Street's financial sector.

He actively collaborates on interdisciplinary projects and mentors students in undergraduate/graduate research. His academic leadership includes guest editing journals and serving as an IEEE senior member.
