Agustin Sanchez-Arcilla Conejo

Agustin Sanchez-Arcilla Conejo is a Full Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), affiliated with the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (ETSECCPB) and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He leads the LIM/UPC Laboratory of Maritime Engineering and coordinates the Doctorate Program in Marine Sciences. His expertise spans coastal engineering, climate change adaptation, sediment transport, and ecosystem-based solutions.

Education: Civil Engineer (Ingeniero de Caminos) and Doctor in Civil Engineering (Doctor Ing. Caminos, Canales y Puertos). Postgraduate studies at Wegemt Graduate School. Research focuses on coastal morphology, marine climate impacts, port engineering, and numerical modeling.

Key achievements include leading Horizon 2020 projects like DANUBIUS Implementation Phase, and developing early warning systems for coastal risk reduction. Recognitions include the ERC Starting Grant (2018) and awards from the Common Maritime Agenda (2024) and Atlantic Stakeholder Platform (2022). Active in over 1,200 research activities, including 216 indexed journal articles and 571 conference presentations.

Current projects include the Observatorio de Cambio Climático for ports and the iCIEM+ experimental maritime canal. Collaborates with institutions like CIIRC (International Centre for Coastal Resources Research) and Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
