Agostino Sotgia is a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen, specializing in Classical and Mediterranean Archaeology. He holds a double Ph.D. in Archaeology (cum laude) from Sapienza Università di Roma and the University of Groningen. His research focuses on European Protohistory, with particular emphasis on the Bronze Age and Late Bronze Age in Southern Etruria. Key areas include archaeological theory, material culture, pottery technology, landscape archaeology, and the intersection of archaeology with politics.

Recent projects include predictive models for ancient landscapes and studies on Bronze Age kiln technology in Italy.
