Agostino Nobile is a Lecturer in Statistics at the University of York, affiliated with the Mathematics department. He holds a PhD in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, following undergraduate studies in Economics at La Sapienza in Rome. His career includes post-doctoral roles at NISS/Duke University and the University of Bristol, and a previous Lectureship at the University of Glasgow before joining York in 2014.
His research focuses on Bayesian Statistics and Computational Statistics, with emphasis on finite mixture distributions, time series models, discrete choice models, and hierarchical models applied to forensic compositional data. His work includes methodological advancements in Monte Carlo methods and practical applications in forensic science, such as classification of glass fragments.
Teaching responsibilities include Bayesian Statistics, Survival Analysis, and Mathematical Skills courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
