Agnès Whitfield

Agnès Whitfield is a Professor of English at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies. She specializes in Canadian literature, literary translation, and gender studies. She holds a PhD from Université Laval and has held visiting professorships at institutions including the University of Bologna and McGill University. Her research focuses on Canadian Francophone and Anglophone women writers, translation practices, and cultural exchange policies. Whitfield has authored 12 books and over 100 articles, with notable works including Writing Between the Lines and Le Métier du double, both foundational texts in Translation Studies.
