Agnès Lacreuse serves as a Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her primary research base is the Hormones & Cognition Lab, located in Morrill 4 North N204. She holds multiple center affiliations:
- Center for Neuroendocrine Studies
- Center for Research on Families
- Institute for Applied Life Sciences
Additionally, she is a faculty member in the Neuroscience & Behavior Graduate Program.
Dr. Lacreuse's research addresses critical issues in cognitive aging and women's health. Using the common marmoset—a nonhuman primate with a short lifespan—as a model, her lab investigates how sex and sex hormones influence healthy and pathological aging, including Alzheimer's disease (which affects two-thirds of cases in women). A key area of focus is understanding the cognitive side effects of estrogen-blocking treatments in breast cancer and developing novel interventions to alleviate these effects and enhance the quality of life for survivors.
Her work employs an integrative methodology to identify predictors of age-related cognitive decline and to model neurodegenerative processes. The lab is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and adheres to humane and transparent practices in animal research.
Dr. Lacreuse is an active contributor to the scientific community, with recent work emphasizing the importance of nonhuman primates in aging and disease research.
