Agnieszka Ignatowicz is an Associate Professor in Applied Health Sciences at the University of Birmingham with extensive research activity in global health, particularly focused on injury care systems in low and middle income countries. She has over 50 research outputs and is actively involved in multiple international research projects.
Her educational background includes a PhD from Aston University (awarded June 4, 2012), an MA from the University of Birmingham (awarded December 2, 2008), and a Bachelor of Social Science.
Dr. Ignatowicz's research focuses on injury care systems, equitable access to trauma services, and health system governance in resource-limited settings, with particular emphasis on Rwanda, Ghana, and other low and middle income countries. Her work employs mixed-methods approaches to examine pre-hospital transport systems, emergency care coordination, and policy implementation challenges. Recent publications demonstrate her leadership in developing innovative electronic communication platforms for injury care coordination and assessing sustainability in respiratory care delivery.
Her research portfolio includes significant projects such as the Rwanda912 study (2022-2027), the NIHR Global Health Group on Equitable Access (2022-2026), and the Thrombo-STOP project (2025-2030), where she serves as Co-Investigator across multiple initiatives funded by NIHR and other organizations.
Dr. Ignatowicz collaborates extensively with international researchers and health system stakeholders, particularly in Africa, to improve emergency care systems and address health equity challenges in injury management. Her work bridges clinical practice, health policy, and systems implementation to create practical solutions for resource-constrained settings.
