Agnete Wisti Lassen is an Associate Curator at the Yale Babylonian Collection and Lecturer in Assyriology at Yale University. She specializes in the archaeology, history, and art history of the ancient Near East, focusing on Mesopotamian and Anatolian social/economic history, glyptic studies, and ancient textiles. Lassen holds degrees from the University of Copenhagen: BA (2003), MA (2008), PhD (2012).
Her research integrates interdisciplinary methods, analyzing visual culture, archaeological materials, and written sources. Notable contributions include co-editing Women at the Dawn of History (2020) and Ancient Mesopotamia Speaks (2019), which highlight women’s roles and artifacts from the Yale Babylonian Collection. She has curated exhibitions and received grants including the American Schools of Oriental Research Fellowship and the Carlsberg Foundation Grant.
Recent work explores seal biographies, Kassite-period Basmaya site analysis, and obsidian sourcing. Collaborations include projects with the Yale Peabody Museum and international scholars on topics like Old Assyrian glyptic styles and Anatolian textile economies.
