Agnes Koschmider

Agnes Koschmider is a Professor of Business Informatics at the University of Bayreuth, affiliated with the Faculty of Law, Business and Economics in the Department of Business & Information Systems Engineering and Process Analytics. She also holds a leading position at the Branch Business & Information Systems Engineering of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT.

Her educational background includes a PhD in 2007 and habilitation in Applied Informatics in 2015, both completed at KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). Prior to her current position, she held academic appointments at the University of Kiel (2019-2022), Poznań University of Economics and Business, and served as a visiting professor at the University of Cologne.

Professor Koschmider's research focuses on data-driven process analysis, particularly in process mining using artificial intelligence methods. Her work encompasses privacy-preserving analysis techniques, minimization of process data re-identification, and developing comprehensive pipelines from raw data (including time series, sensor event data, and video data) to process discovery. Her research has broad applications across multiple disciplines including medicine, agricultural sciences, geology, geography, material sciences, and marine sciences.

She has published over 100 research papers in prestigious journals such as Data & Knowledge Engineering, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, Business & Information Systems Engineering, and BPM Journal.

Her scientific achievements have been recognized with several awards:

• Wolfgang Heilmann Prize
• Junior Fellowship from the German Society of Informatics
• Postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Pretoria

Throughout her career, Professor Koschmider has maintained an active international research presence with scholarly visits to TU Eindhoven, Politechnical University of Valencia, Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, and IBM Research (Almaden).
