Agnes Flöel

Prof. Dr. Agnes Flöel is a group leader at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology at University Medicine Greifswald. Her research focuses on healthy aging, cognitive impairment in old age, and neurorehabilitation following stroke or in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.

• Investigates neuronal correlates of learning processes using behavioral measurements, functional/structural MRI, and EEG in aging and neurodegenerative brains
• Develops interventional procedures for cognitive impairment prevention and learning improvement, including pharmacological support (dopaminergic/serotonergic substances), electrical brain stimulation techniques (TMS, tDCS, oscillating stimulation), and lifestyle interventions (physical activity, diet)
• Conducts clinical studies on speech/motor recovery and neurodegenerative disease progression
• Examines gene-environment interactions in treatment responses
