Agnes Cheng is the Dale Looper Chair in Accounting at the University of Oklahoma's Price College of Business. She previously served as Chair Professor and Head of the School of Accounting and Finance at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. With a Ph.D. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, she has held academic positions at the University of Houston and Louisiana State University, and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Arkansas and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Her research focuses on empirical financial accounting, with notable contributions in auditing, corporate governance, and international accounting practices. She has authored a monograph for the American Accounting Association and publishes in top journals such as Journal of Accounting Research and Journal of Financial Economics.
Cheng actively serves on editorial boards, currently editing Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and Journal of International Accounting Research. She has held leadership roles in professional organizations like CAPANA (President) and the American Accounting Association (Vice President – International).
Her recent work explores topics like numeric disclosures in corporate reports, audit committee effectiveness in China, and cultural influences on tax strategies. Over 150 publications demonstrate her sustained impact in accounting and finance disciplines.
