Agnes Blome is a Research Fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, affiliated with the Department of Inequality and Social Policy. Her work focuses on comparative politics, social policy, gender inequality, and methodological integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches. She holds a Dr. phil. from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2012), with a thesis analyzing work/care policy reforms in Germany and Italy.
Blome’s research explores the intersection of political competition, normative beliefs, and policy change, particularly in work-family policies. She has conducted extensive studies on welfare state dynamics, generational relations, and gender equity in Europe. Her 2017 book The Politics of Work-Family Policy Reforms in Germany and Italy examines why Germany implemented transformative policies while Italy did not, contributing to debates on welfare state adaptability.
Her publications span peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and policy analyses, addressing topics like poverty, inequality, and institutional impacts. Blome has been involved in major projects such as the Generational Relations in the Welfare State initiative and the EQUALSOC Network, focusing on intergenerational dynamics and policy reforms.
While no specific awards are listed, her scholarship has been praised for its methodological rigor and policy relevance. She advises on projects related to work-family policy design and has collaborated with institutions like the London School of Economics.
