Aggelos Kiayias

Aggelos Kiayias is Chair in Cyber Security and Privacy at the University of Edinburgh and Chief Scientist at Input Output. His research covers computer security, privacy, applied cryptography, blockchain technologies, distributed systems, e-voting, and identity management. He directs the Blockchain Technology Laboratory and has received prestigious awards including ERC Starting Grant and BCS Lovelace Medal.

He has supervised 15+ PhD students including recent graduates Orfeas Litos (2021) and Dionysis Zindros (2020). Current PhD advisees include Yu Shen (expected 2025) and Christina Ovezik (expected 2026).
