Agata Maria Bartyzel

Dr. hab. Agata Maria Bartyzel is a Professor at the Department of General, Coordination and Crystallographic Chemistry within the Faculty of Chemistry at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. She serves as the Coordinator for her department and supervises first-year Chemistry students specializing in Analytical Chemistry. Her office is located in room 34 on the second floor of the "Small Chemistry" building at pl. M. Curie-Skłodowskiej 2, 20-031 Lublin.

Dr. Bartyzel's research focuses on the design, synthesis, and structural and physicochemical characterization of metal complexes (primarily d-electron metals) with N,O,S-donor ligands in the solid phase. She investigates catalytic properties of synthesized compounds, synthesis and characterization of N,O,S-donor ligands (particularly Schiff base types), keto-enol tautomerism in both solid phase and solution, the influence of various factors on metal ion complexation processes, and thermal properties of organic and inorganic materials. Her work bridges fundamental coordination chemistry with potential applications in catalysis and materials science.

Her publication record spanning from 2016-2022 demonstrates consistent expertise across coordination chemistry, crystallography, and thermal analysis. The 15 most recent publications reveal a strong focus on heterometallic complexes, particularly copper-lanthanide systems with Schiff base ligands, as well as biologically relevant indole derivatives with potential neurological applications. Her research combines experimental characterization with computational methods, showing interdisciplinary collaboration across chemistry subfields.
