Afsaneh Ehsani

Afsaneh Ehsani is an External Doctoral Researcher at Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO), affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Markets, Marketing and World Agricultural Trade. She joined IAMO in March 2019 as a PhD student, focusing on the Governance of Food Supply Chains. Her educational background includes a Master of Science in 'Research in Social Sciences' and a Bachelor’s degree in 'Agricultural Engineering (Food Science and Industry)', both from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran.

Her research explores the intersections of food security, public health, and socio-economic impacts of supply chain governance, particularly during crises like Iran’s red meat shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic. Key areas include agricultural economics, dietary patterns, and policy responses to supply chain disruptions.

Publications highlight trends in food supply chain resilience, social inequality in consumption, and digital transformation for sustainability. She has presented work at conferences such as the IAMO Forum, Tropentag, and annual meetings of the Gesellschaft für Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften des Landbaues e.V.
