Adriana Tomic is an Assistant Professor at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology. Her research focuses on systems immunology, particularly understanding protective immunity signatures in humans through multi-omics and machine learning. She leads the Tomic Lab, which integrates advanced technologies to identify correlates of protection against pathogens like influenza, RSV, and SARS-CoV-2.
Dr. Tomic holds a PhD from Hannover Medical School and an M.Sc. from the University of Ljubljana. Her work includes developing the SIMON machine learning platform for biomedical data analysis and contributing to the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine research. She has received prestigious awards, including the 2021 Oxford Vaccine Group Award and the 2017 Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship.
Her research spans grants on systems immunology approaches to influenza immunity, vaccine development, and pandemic preparedness. Collaborations include the HIC-Vac Network and the UK Coronavirus Immunology Consortium. Her long-term goals involve standardizing systems immunology methods and advancing automated immunoassay technologies.
Awards include recognition for her contributions to vaccine research and immunology, including the American Association of Immunologists' most-read article award (2019-2020). She is actively involved in mentoring and interdisciplinary collaborations to tackle global health challenges.
