Adriana Martinez

Adriana Martinez serves as an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Resources and Policy program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), teaching courses including Introduction to Physical Geography, GIS, and Geomorphology across undergraduate and graduate levels.

Her research examines human-river system interactions through biogeomorphology, focusing on invasive riparian vegetation dynamics, U.S.-Mexico Border Fence impacts on Rio Grande fluvial processes, environmental justice in St. Louis Metro East, and archaeological site preservation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Dr. Martinez contributes to NSF-funded initiatives including the GEOPATHS program building geoscience career pathways and the $1 million Youth Science Network grant, conducting collaborative fieldwork with the Watershed Nature Center using drone technology for environmental monitoring and student training.
