Adriana Garroni

Adriana Garroni is a Full Professor in Mathematical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics "G. Castelnuovo", Faculty of Science, Sapienza University of Rome. She holds a PhD in Functional Analysis from SISSA, Trieste, and has been a faculty member since 1995, transitioning from Research Associate to Associate Professor (1998-2017) and eventually Full Professor. Her research spans calculus of variations, applied mathematics, and partial differential equations.

• Education: PhD in Functional Analysis (SISSA, Trieste, 1994)
• Teaching: Faculty of Architecture (since 1998) and Mathematics courses (Analisi 1, Analisi 2, etc.)

Her research focuses on calculus of variations, functional analysis, and mathematical modeling in materials science. She has organized numerous international conferences, summer schools, and seminars, including the Vito Volterra Meetings and SIAM conferences. Her editorial roles include Corresponding Editor of ESAIM: COCV and positions on journals like ARMA and Acta Applicandae Mathematicae.

She has served as Coordinator of the PhD program in Mathematics (2017-2019) and on the Scientific Board of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI) from 2015-2022. Additionally, she has participated in NSF grant panels and refereed for international journals including CPAM and Calc. Var.

Garroni has delivered over 90 invited talks at international conferences and held visiting positions at institutions such as the Max Planck Institute, Courant Institute, Caltech, and Oxford University. She currently teaches "Analisi Matematica 2" at Sapienza, with office hours on Thursdays.
