Adrian M. Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at Kent State University's College of Arts & Sciences. He serves as Vice Chair of Faculty Council and Honors Coordinator for the Tuscarawas campus. His research focuses on quantitative analyses of criminological phenomena, including neighborhood poverty, peer associations, and self-control theories predicting substance use, delinquency, and pro-social behaviors in adolescents and young adults.
Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University (2012). His work emphasizes transitions to adulthood, particularly healthy development pathways. Office hours are 9AM-5PM (Mon-Thu) in-person at 215 Merrill Hall, Kent, OH, and remote Fridays 9AM-3PM.
Research interests include neighborhood effects on criminal behavior, substance use epidemiology, and quantitative methodological innovations. Recent work explores deviance labeling mechanisms and cross-cultural behavioral invariance.
Publications span journals like Deviant Behavior, Merrill Palmer Quarterly, and Crime and Delinquency. Research consistently integrates multi-level analysis and longitudinal data to address societal challenges.
Professional service includes faculty governance roles and honors program leadership. Current collaborations focus on adolescent transition studies with interdisciplinary teams.
