Adrian GUYOT is a Lecturer in Spanish at the University of Artois, affiliated with the UFR Languages. His research focuses on the political thought, literature, and civilization of 16th- and 17th-century Spain, particularly the interplay between Machiavellian pragmatism and Catholic ethical frameworks in political writings.
His recent publications include a 2023 monograph on Machiavelli's influence in Spanish Golden Age literature, co-edited with LabEx COMOD, and chapters analyzing political strategies in works by Saavedra Fajardo and Juan Alfonso de Lancina. He has co-edited proceedings from the 2023 international conference on Golden Age historiography (to be published in 2024).
He organizes academic events such as the 2023 Écrire l’histoire au Siècle d’or conference and the 2018 Le règne de Charles II colloquium. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate programs, covering Spanish literature, grammar, and Latin American studies. He also serves as a jury member for the CAPES external exams and chaired an IHRIM thesis committee (2022/2023).
