Adrian Chabowski is a Professor and Vice-Rector for Education at the Medical University of Bialystok, affiliated with the Department of Physiology within the Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on lipid metabolism, sphingolipid signaling, insulin resistance, and metabolic disorders. He has extensively studied the roles of cannabinoids (e.g., cannabigerol, cannabidiol) in modulating metabolic pathways and their therapeutic potential in conditions like obesity and hepatic steatosis. His work also explores biomarkers for cardiovascular and hepatic diseases, such as atrial fibrillation and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Chabowski has contributed to understanding the link between psoriasis and metabolic syndrome, particularly in pediatric populations, and investigates molecular mechanisms of inflammation and oxidative stress in animal models. His interdisciplinary approach integrates cellular biology, pharmacology, and clinical diagnostics.
- Affiliations: Vice-Rector for Education, Department of Physiology, Medical University of Bialystok
- Key Research Themes: Sphingolipid metabolism, insulin resistance, cardiovascular lipid profiles, cannabinoid pharmacology, biomarker development
- Notable Projects: Investigating cannabigerol’s effects on skeletal muscle phospholipids, EPA/DHA’s role in adiposity reduction, and N-acetylcysteine’s therapeutic potential in liver disease
His recent publications highlight advancements in understanding metabolic syndrome comorbidities, the efficacy of acitretin and UVB therapy in psoriasis, and the metabolic impacts of high-fat diets in knockout mouse models. Chabowski’s work bridges basic science and clinical applications, emphasizing translational research in metabolic health.
