Adrian Anthony Finch is Professor of Geology at University of St Andrews, specializing in mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry of rift-related magmas. His research focuses on metal resources in alkaline rocks, particularly rare earth elements, niobium and tantalum deposits across global locations including Mongolia, Malawi and Greenland. He holds a BSc from Durham University and PhD from University of Edinburgh.
Finch serves as advisor to government bodies and exploration companies, with expertise developed through 12 Arctic fieldwork seasons. As member of St Andrews Centre for Energy Ethics and Centre for Clean Energy Research, he contributes to sustainability initiatives. Awards include fellowships from Geological Society, Mineralogical Society, and Society of Economic Geologists. Recent publications examine mineral formation mechanisms and resource geology.
