Dr Adora Yau is a Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Physiology at the Department of Life Sciences, Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds academic leadership roles as Programme Leader for the MSc Human Physiology and Unit Leader for Advanced Nutritional and Exercise Physiology courses. Her research focuses on the interplay between exercise, nutrient intake, and metabolic health, particularly investigating gastrointestinal function, appetite regulation, and physical activity impacts.
Dr Yau’s educational background includes a BSc from the University of Bath, followed by MSc and PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the Physiological Society Research Grant (2018) and a European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism Fellowship Award.
Her research outputs emphasize exercise timing effects on metabolism, dietary carbohydrate impacts on digestion, and genetic influences on gut physiology. Key themes include fructose/glucose metabolism, fasted exercise physiology, and hydration in elite athletes. Media engagements include BBC features on marathon nutrition and fasting during Ramadan.
