Aditi Malik serves as Associate Professor of Political Science at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, USA, specializing in Comparative Politics with regional expertise in Africa and South Asia.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA
Her research centers on Gender-Based Violence, Political Violence, and Intersectionality, examining how social locations of victims influence collective action against sexual violence. Fieldwork across Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Cambodia, India, and Nepal informs her analysis of political parties, social movements, ethnic/gender politics, and contentious politics through small-N cross-regional comparisons. She investigates why certain rape cases mobilize mass protests while others remain ignored, focusing on activist and journalist framing mechanisms.
Malik's scholarly output includes the 2024 Cambridge University Press book "Playing with Fire: Parties and Political Violence in Kenya and India" and publications in Commonwealth & Comparative Politics, African Studies Review, and PS: Political Science & Politics. She currently leads the project "Mobilizing Public Protests against Rape: New Intersectional Insights from India," analyzing media and activist roles in shaping public responses to gender-based violence.
