Aditi Chandra is an Associate Professor of Art History/Visual Studies at the University of California, Merced, affiliated with the Global Arts, Media and Writing Studies department within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Art History (2011) and M.A. in Art History (2004) from the University of Minnesota, along with an M.A. (2001) and B.A. (1997) in History from the University of Delhi.
- Specializations: Islamic and South Asian art/architecture, colonial/post-colonial studies, gender studies, visual culture of travel.
- Key Projects: Current book project on colonial-era transformations of Delhi’s Islamic architecture; curated exhibitions on colonial Delhi and transnational waterscapes.
- Awards: UC President’s Faculty Research Fellowship (2019-20), Doris Duke Foundation Scholar-in-Residence (2013).
- Collaborations: Partnered with institutions like the Center for Humanities and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies; external collaborators include Leda Cempellin (South Dakota State University) and Vinita Chandra (Ramjas College, University of Delhi).
