Professor Adina Michael-Titus is a neuroscientist and pharmacologist at Queen Mary University of London, where she leads the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma and its associated Neurotrauma Group. Her research focuses on neuroprotective strategies and therapeutic interventions for traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
Her work spans experimental models in both central and peripheral nervous system trauma, clinical translation of polyunsaturated fatty acids (especially docosahexaenoic acid), neuroplasticity enhancement post-injury, and the emerging link between neurotrauma and brain senescence. She also explores metabolic/nutritional support for white matter repair and lipidomic signatures in acute injury phases.
As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she teaches neuroscience and neuropharmacology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across multiple programs, including the MBBS degree, Intercalated Neuroscience BSc, and MSc in Neuroscience & Translational Medicine. She leads collaborative research with Royal London Hospital clinicians and directs the International Society for Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids.
