Dr. Adhir Sharma is a Lecturer at the School of Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of New England (UNE), Australia. He earned his PhD from UNE, focusing on the health of left-behind wives within the context of regulated labor migration from Nepal, using a social determinants of health framework. His academic work spans public health, migration, community health services, and social care.
His research is deeply interdisciplinary, combining insights from public health, development economics, and social policy. He has contributed to health program development, particularly in designing Master's and Diploma programs in Health Insurance for Saudi Arabia and the Middle East during his tenure as Assistant Professor at Qassim University. His expertise bridges academic research and practical development work, with a strong emphasis on equity, gender, and resilience in health systems.
Dr. Sharma is actively involved in international development and policy. Since 2021, he serves as Advisor and Board Member for the UK-funded Gender, Resilience and Intersectionality Project in South Asia. He is a member of several professional associations including the Australian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM), Saudi Quality Health Association, Nepal Health Professionals Association, and serves on the scientific advisory boards of the International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health and the Gomal University Journal of Research.
