Adey Almohsen is a Senior Lecturer at Grinnell College’s Department of History, affiliated with the Studies in Africa, Middle East, and South Asia program. Their research focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of the Middle East and North Africa, particularly Palestinian thought and Arab critical traditions.
Education:
- PhD and MA in History, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
- BA with High Honors in Religion & Political Science, Carleton University, Canada
Research Interests: Modern MENA history, Palestinian studies, postcolonial theory, Arabic literature, and the Nahda movement. Current projects include a book on Palestinian intellectual history post-1948, supported by an ACLS fellowship.
Publications: Recent articles explore Palestinian and Moroccan literary movements, Jerusalem’s cultural history, and post-WWII Arab critical thought. Themes include nationalism, decolonization, and transnational intellectual networks.
