Adenike Soogun

Dr Adenike Soogun is a Senior Research Assistant (Statistician) for the RELEASE project at the University of Queensland's General Practice Clinical Trial unit and an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Biostatistics unit at Griffith University. She brings over 15 years of experience in research and teaching, with a focus on applying advanced statistical methodologies in medical research.

Her educational background includes a PhD in Statistics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and an MBA (General) from the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA), both in Durban, South Africa.

Dr Soogun's research interests span Biostatistics and Medical Statistics, with expertise in Advanced Statistical Modelling, Bayesian Statistics, Spatial and Spatio-temporal Statistics, Survival Analysis, Machine Learning, Predictive and Joint Modelling, Meta-analysis, and analysis of Longitudinal Data, Clinical Trials, and Observational Studies. She is highly experienced in data management and analysis of complex datasets including longitudinal, clinical trials, cross-sectional, observational, and cohort studies.

With extensive experience collaborating with epidemiologists, clinicians, public health practitioners, and researchers across multidisciplinary areas, Dr Soogun has worked on multiple projects in an HIV hyperendemic area of South Africa. She is passionate about applying statistical methodologies to achieve the goal of ending the HIV epidemic by 2030.

Dr Soogun is part of the General Practice Clinical Trial unit at the University of Queensland and contributes to the RELEASE project. Her previous roles include Research Fellow (Statistician) at the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) and sessional academic lecturer at UKZN.
