Adelphe Ekponon

Adelphe Ekponon is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from HEC Montréal, with visiting scholar positions at Boston College and the University of Toronto. His research focuses on asset pricing, macro-finance, corporate finance, and cryptocurrency, emphasizing the integration of macroeconomic conditions into financial models. He has been awarded grants including a SSHRC Insight Development Grant ($66,503) and the University of Ottawa SEED Funding ($10,000). His work has appeared in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and Finance Research Letters.

Ekponon’s academic journey includes roles as an Assistant Professor at the University of Liverpool Management School and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School. He has received recognition for research excellence, including a semi-finalist placement in FMA’s Corporate Finance and Investment categories, and a Best Paper Award at the Global Finance Conference (2021). His teaching spans econometrics, FinTech, and asset pricing at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

His research explores topics such as sovereign risk premia, cryptocurrency pricing frameworks, and the impact of governance risk on stock returns. He has supervised over 20 students at the MSc and Bachelor’s levels across multiple institutions. Ekponon actively contributes to academic communities through editorial roles, conference participation, and peer review for journals like the Journal of Banking and Finance.
