Adeline Vasquez-Parra is an Associate Professor in North American History and Civilization at Lumière Lyon 2 University's Foreign Languages Department. She holds a PhD in History from Université Libre de Bruxelles (2016). Her research bridges migration studies, transatlantic history, and colonial dynamics, focusing on settler societies' plurinational frameworks and colonial legacies. She examines forced displacement, spatial justice, and gender disparities in the Global North, with case studies in Canada, the US Deep South, and the Caribbean. Current projects include analyzing Quebec's role in French imperial history as a transimperial space.
Publications include Histoire du Québec: des origines à nos jours (2025) and articles on Acadian refugees, French Caribbean legal cultures, and Indigenous feminism. She has received grants from the French Ministry of Higher Education and the International Council for Canadian Studies. She co-directs the 'Gender, Feminisms and Politics' research group at Triangle UMR 5206, collaborating on projects addressing gender-based violence, feminist thought, and political subjectivity in historical contexts.
Media engagements include interviews on Acadian deportation and women's resilience in Radio Canada. Her innovative methodologies integrate personal archives and memoirs to reposition historians as active participants in historical narratives.
