Adeline Lo

Adeline Lo is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, holding the Glenn B. & Cleone Orr Hawkins Chair. She is also affiliated with the Department of Statistics and serves as Associate Editor for Political Analysis (2024-2026).

Her educational background includes:

Her research integrates political methodology and comparative politics, focusing on high-dimensional prediction tools for conflict forecasting, causal inference in survey experiments, and measurement of intra-state conflict dynamics. She investigates how media representations of refugee stories influence native inclusionary politics and examines empathy's role in reducing exclusionary attitudes between migrant minorities and native communities through the Empathy Research Lab.

She has received the Glenn B. & Cleone Orr Hawkins Chair honor.

Professor Lo directs the Models, Experiments and Data (MEAD) workshop and the Experiments and Politics Workshop. She is affiliated with the UW-Madison Robert & Jean Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies and the Midwest Workshop in Empirical Political Science, having conducted field research in Benin and Germany.

Her collaborative work includes the Empathy Research Lab, which studies intergroup dynamics through quantitative social science frameworks.
