Dr. Adela Weil is a Lecturer for Mathematics at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) School of Engineering. She has been working at ZHAW since August 2018, initially as a contracted lecturer (Lehrbeauftragte) before becoming a regular lecturer.
Her academic background includes:
- Doctorate in Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) in Mathematics from the University of Bonn and Aix-Marseille University (2010-2014)
- Diploma in Mathematical Economics (Dipl. math. oec.) in Financial and Economic Mathematics from the Technical University of Munich (2005-2010)
Dr. Weil's research interests focus on Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, Financial Mathematics, and Safety-Critical Systems. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications in engineering and finance. She has published research on distortion measures, risk management, and stochastic processes with applications in financial modeling and statistical physics.
Her recent publications show a trend toward interdisciplinary research, connecting mathematical theory with biomedical engineering applications as evidenced by her 2024 publication on dental implant stability. Earlier works focused on theoretical aspects of risk measures and stochastic processes in random environments.
Her scientific contributions include:
- "Time consistency of multi-period distortion measures" (2012)
- "Convergence to extremal processes in random environments and extremal ageing in SK models" (2013)
- "Convergence of clock processes on infinite graphs and aging in Bouchaud's asymmetric trap model on Z^d" (2014)
- "In-vitro dental implant primary stability: staircase predicting continuous method" (2024)
Before joining ZHAW, Dr. Weil worked as a Data Scientist at Webrepublic (2016-2018) and as a Quantitative Research Analyst at Raiffeisen Schweiz (2015-2016). She also completed a postdoctoral position at Technion Haifa, Israel (2013-2014).
