Dr. Adar Pelah is a Professor in Electronic Engineering at the University of York. He holds the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow title. His research focuses on biomedical engineering, medical diagnostics, and rehabilitation technology, with a particular emphasis on human vision, locomotion, virtual reality, and 3D display systems. Pelah leads the Laboratory for Investigative Virtual Environments (LIVE) within the Intelligent Systems Research Group. His work includes developing AI-driven platforms for movement analysis, stroke rehabilitation, and applications in Long COVID.
Key research areas include musculoskeletal modeling, microwave imaging for medical applications, and the coupling of vision with locomotion in neurological conditions. Pelah has supervised numerous PhD, MSc, MEng, and BEng students, contributing to advancements in assistive devices and medical diagnostics.
His scientific contributions span over 40 peer-reviewed publications and two patents. Notable achievements include a Medical Research Council (MRC) grant (2018–2020) for clinical movement markers in osteoarthritis treatment. Pelah’s interdisciplinary work bridges engineering, neuroscience, and clinical practice, addressing challenges in healthcare through innovative technologies.
