Adam Wiśniewski is Professor and Head of the Department of Public International Law at the University of Gdańsk. He has been nominated as a candidate for Judge of the European Court of Human Rights by the Republic of Poland.
His scholarly work focuses on human rights protection mechanisms, international jurisprudence, and the application of European Convention standards in domestic legal systems. Wiśniewski examines emerging challenges including climate litigation, digital rights, and the impact of globalization on legal systems.
Through extensive publications, he has analyzed interpretive methodologies in human rights law, the evolving role of international courts, and philosophical foundations of justice in transnational contexts. His recent work addresses how international law responds to technological and environmental challenges.
Wiśniewski's research demonstrates consistent engagement with the European Court of Human Rights' jurisprudence, examining both procedural innovations like advisory opinions and substantive areas including business rights, media freedoms, and AI regulation.
As Poland's candidate for the European Court of Human Rights, his expertise encompasses both theoretical frameworks and practical implementation of human rights standards across diverse legal systems.
