Adam Volk is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Notre Dame, part of the College of Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2022), an M.S. from the same institution (2018), and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Dayton (2016). His research focuses on graph theory and combinatorics, particularly extremal graph theory, with an emphasis on theoretical and applied aspects. Dr. Volk prioritizes active learning in his teaching, having previously taught undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, including calculus and math education courses through the Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes.
He is a member of the American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Association of America, and Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences. His teaching philosophy emphasizes student engagement and has contributed to his roles in curriculum development and pedagogical innovation.
