Adam Lavecchia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at McMaster University, affiliated with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) and the CESifo Research Network. He received his PhD in Economics (2017) and MA in Economics (2011) from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Economics and Political Science (2010) from York University.
His research focuses on public economics and labor economics, with a particular emphasis on policy evaluations related to taxation, minimum wage, and educational interventions. Key projects include analyzing the Pathways to Education program and studying the impacts of capital gains tax reforms.
Recent publications examine topics like tax compliance among immigrants, capital gains taxation, and minimum wage policy. He has received the 2021 John Charles Polanyi Prize and the 2020 Early Career Researcher Award from McMaster's Faculty of Social Sciences. His work often combines empirical evidence with theoretical modeling to inform public policy debates.
