Adam Celiz is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London, part of the Faculty of Engineering. He leads the Celiz Lab, which focuses on developing biomaterials for tissue repair and regeneration. His affiliations include the CRUK Convergence Science Centre, Cancer Technology Network, and Centre for Advanced Therapeutics.
Education: BSc (First Class) in Pharmaceutical & Chemical Sciences (University of Brighton, 2006); PhD in Chemistry (University of Cambridge, 2010). Postdoctoral research included work at the University of Nottingham and Harvard University’s Wyss Institute. Awards include the Larry Hench Young Investigators Prize and an Early Career Researcher Award from the American Vacuum Society.
Research interests span biomaterials for stem cell interactions, high-throughput screening of polymers, and tissue adhesives. His lab develops hydrogels for dental regeneration, cardiac tissue repair, and lymphangiogenesis. Key facilities include the Kinexus Ultra+ Rheometer and ElectroForce 5500 DMA platforms.
Publications highlight advancements in biomaterial strategies for endodontic regeneration, dental pulp stem cells, and tough adhesives for wet surfaces. His work has been featured in Science, Nature Materials, and Advanced Materials, with media coverage in BBC, Newsweek, and Popular Science.
