Ad Lagendijk is a Professor at the Complex Photonic Systems department within the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Delft University of Technology. His research focuses on photonics, nanophotonics, and light-matter interactions in disordered and periodic systems. Key areas include photonic band gap crystals, wavefront shaping for deep-tissue imaging, and light scattering phenomena. He has pioneered studies on energy confinement in photonic structures and developed novel fabrication techniques for 3D photonic crystals. Lagendijk has received notable awards, including the 3rd Poster Prize at the Complex Nanophotonic Science Camp (2015) and the Posterprijs (2012). His work bridges fundamental optics with applied technologies, contributing to advancements in nanophotonic devices and imaging through opaque media. Collaborative activities include international conferences and co-supervision of 16 research projects. Current efforts emphasize scaling theories of wave confinement and mutual scattering effects in complex media.
